Pregnant Man documentary on the way

If you haven’t heard about this story yet, it’s pretty amazing stuff.

Thomas Beatie, originally born a woman but now legally after gender reassignment surgery, is the first man to give birth (June 29, 2008 to a baby girl). His wife is unable to have kids, so Beatie kept his female reproductive organs so the couple could have a kid.

Well, it turns out the bigwigs at DCD Media think his story his pretty cool, too. They’ve decided to pick up his story and make it an hour-long documentary already set to debut in the United States and Germany.

DCD’s September Films unit beat four other production firms to win the commission, and will have exclusive access to Thomas Beatie, the first man in the world to give birth, for the hour-long documentary, the company said.

I’ll definitely be on the lookout for this one; I mean, a Hawaiian-beauty-pageant-contestant-turned-man-turned-first-ever-male-birth-giver? You just can’t make this stuff up.
