I love movies. It’s that simple.
From the moment my grandpa sat me down when I was a kid to watch “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and any other B-level SciFi flick he could find on VHS, I’ve been hooked. As I grew, so did my obsession with movies — it helped that my home town had so many diverse viewing experiences, from the generic movieplex to the cheap screens, the indie movie house by the beach and even the 1950’s-style Drive-In, too.
Through high school, I regularly poured entire Ice Cream Shop summer job paychecks into DVDs and ticket stubs. My friends and I wrote simple and silly scripts, blew shit up, filmed it and passed out copies inconspicuously at school.
College came and my internet use went up exponentially. It wasn’t enough to see all the latest movies, anymore. I needed to stay as up-to-date as possible about everything that went on in Hollywood and beyond. I started checking movie blogs and news sites several times a day. Obviously, the next step was to create my own.
I don’t care if there are people reading it — I’m doing this because I love movies, because I like writing and I’ve always wanted to combine the two. If I build a fanbase, great. If not, oh well. My ultimate goal is to keep an informal, personal blog, a vehicle through which I can collect the most important movie news (well, at least according to me) and express my opinions about it.
As I start to get more of a handle on the log, in terms of the voice it will take and so on, I’ll let all you loyal readers (lol, right) know more about my viewing habits (Andy’s Top Ten movies, directors, action scenes, etc.) as well as provide kickass coverage of the latest from the Film World.
Enjoy the blog, ladies and gents. I know I will.
